1. REPORTING, REFERRAL AND TRANSFER OF SARS SUSPECTS TO RITM

OR SAN LAZARO HOSPITAL

 

 

Referral arrangement to designated SARS hospital will be facilitated by the ERO before patient is conducted to the hospital.

 

Transport of SARS Suspects or case to SARS hospital is the mandatory responsibility of the referral hospital.

 

 

SELF CONDUCTION  - will not be allowed to ensure that SARS Suspect proceed to the designated SARS hospital and to prevent further spread of the infection to unsuspecting drivers and passengers of public transport.

 

Strict infection control precaution will be observed during transport of patients. The passenger area should be completely separated from the driver by an effective barrier.

 

The driver should be provided with N95 mask, gown, gloves and should have received proper training before he is assigned to this task.

 

 

Do not transport SARS patients with Non SARS patients in same vehicle.

Upon arrival at SARS Hospital drivers accompanies patient to the Triage and endorses patient to the Triage Officer, document receipt of referral by requesting Triage Officer to sign logbook of referring Health Care Facility

 

Before removing his PPE and returning to his hospital, the driver should disinfect the surface and the inside compartment of the transport with 0.1% sodium chlorite. He then removes his gloves and wash hands with soap and water or use alcohol based hand rub.

 

After transporting patient, the following information should be reported to the hospital administration and Infection Control Committee date and route and duration of transport, name and contact information and specific duties of transport person.
